WHO WE ARE;
My name is Deborah Birmingham, Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Canine Behavior Counselor. I own and operate Paw Print Canine Services. I have many years of experience in dog training, both in the UK and the USA. At present, I serve Palm Coast, St. Augustine and surrounding areas in Florida.
I specialize in diagnosing and solving canine behavior issues, usually in your own home. I also teach both private and group obedience at all levels, and give educational seminars on dog training and problem behavior solutions. My services are customized according to your goals, requirements and to your dog's individuality.
I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and am an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.
I am the Official Dog Trainer of Flagler Humane Society in Palm Coast where I help with the behavior, obedience, and well-being of all the Shelter dogs.
I own four dogs, all rescued, aged from 3 to 5 years of age: Clancy, a Golden Retriever, Beaulah, an American Pit Bull, Sophie, a Basenji mix, and Farrah, a Springer Spaniel. I also foster a bull terrier mix, Lily, from Flagler Humane Society to help her rehabilitate from life as a bait dog.
I believe that truly 'bad dogs' exist but are rare and that almost every dog can be rehabilitated and/or trained given the correct treatment, methods, and experiences. Every dog is an individual with its own personality, temperament, and behavior. Positive reinforcement techniques are the foundation upon which my training methods are built. I occasionally will use kind, humane corrections to enhance learning. I abhor cruelty and abuse in all its forms and I will never punish. All dogs in my care are treated with dignity, kindness, and love, with the right mix of firmness and consistency that all dogs crave from their leaders. I believe that canine specific legislation is a ill-informed mistake and I never exclude any breed or size of dog from my business.
WHY 'PAW PRINT' CANINE SERVICES?
My training philosophy is all about canine individuality and I was looking for the perfect, simple symbol to reflect that. Since all human fingerprints are unique, I thought about all the different dog paws and the prints they make. So even though a print of a dog's paw may not be as unique as a fingerprint, it certainly fits the bill as a metaphor! The photograph at the top of the page is of Beaulah's paw print in the marsh mud at a nearby park. The photo to the left is Beaulah herself.
